Workshop On Strategic Missions
I’ve got an important project this summer, which is a training course for local missionaries in India this August. For the needs in the field and the given circumstances, I’ve made a few major changes in it, and it is now a 3-week intensive workshop. Please pray for this!
In recent years, it has been getting tougher and tougher for expat missionaries to enter and stay in India because of the fundamental Hindu government. It is now more important than any time before to train and equip local missionaries so they can multiply ministries by themselves. Especially, northern India and the Himalayas (north of the extended line of Delhi and Kolkata) have the most concentrated unreached people groups (100 million people) in the world with massive demonic activities, yet very few missionaries and very few Christians in the region. Though it’s been 227 years since the first Protestant missionary William Carey came to India in 1792, this area still remains as one of the 7 most strategic mission fields today. It is necessary to aggressively expand ministries in the region for the kingdom of God!
We need $4000 by July 31st to cover the travel costs for top quality speakers (one from the US, another from the UK, & a team of 5 Indian instructors) and myself to come and teach in the training. Would you please pray and take part to meet this need with your support? Please click here to go to the support project. If you want to know how to support us, please click here.
Simply The Story Workshop
In June, SeungHee served for another STS workshop in Greystones as part of the instructors’ team. This time, Yujin, who had been trained in the last Sligo workshop, did a wonderful job as one of the instructors. Kevin also took the opportunity, when he’s with us for the summer break, and went there to get trained for STS for the first time. While the Sligo workshop was mostly for ministers and missionaries, the Greystones workshop was mainly for other full-time Christian workers who reach out to the Irish Travelers. So, now the Travelers have better chances to hear the gospel.
Please pray that it will bring some fruits to God.
Sometime over 10 years ago, pondering on God’s calling for our family, I got a custom email domain for us, which was Parks Global. I wanted to stay well connected with our children later on as time would go. And, of course, they grew up and began to leave home one by one. Last year I made an online chat room for us, naming after the email domain. Then, I took a screenshot of the map that was in the chat room. It showed the real-time locations of us as we were chatting together. It visualized exactly where in the world we were, spread wide over the continents and the oceans.
This summer, we are spreading out a bit further for a short time. In August and September, we are going to be in Ireland, New York, Colorado, and India. One day, we’ll probably be over several different places simultaneously, as we continually grow in number! This is exciting, but at the moment it doesn’t feel easy to me. Of course, it’s because we miss our kids who have left home as to how our own parents have been for us. SeungHee and I have been residing outside of Korea most of the last 24 years since we got married.
Our children have been already saying that we are a unique family… not fitting in existing molds and categories, and they know well that we have to break at least some of them and make new wherever we may be. (I’m suddenly reminded of a topic of the training we had when we first came to YWAM about 30 years ago – Making Jesus Lord: Laying down your rights. Those of you who know this would understand what I mean.) Anyway, it is our hearts’ desire and hopes that all 5 of us will get together once again as a family this Christmas time.
In our small places, through our small lives, may the Lord’s will be done and the Lord’s kingdom come!
World Lyrical Dance Championships
I’ll briefly add about Yujin’s World Lyrical Dance Championships that will be in the UK in August. I’m just grateful that he’s able to go there when it’s been just a little over 1 year since he switched to lyrical dance. I’m not interested in him getting rewarded this time. But, I pray that he would become a dancer who would give to God all that He has given him, have a passion for His glory, know the Father heart of God and express it to people that the people would see our God when he dances!
Here you can find his letter about these championships.
The first half of the year has gone now. I need to examine if there is anything in my life that I’m supposed to do but haven’t done yet.
I pray that God’s amazing dreams and passion for the world would be revealed in your family and everyday life!
Love and blessings,
PS. It seems that the financial report on our recent car purchase has not been delivered to those of you who gave for it. So I’m posting it here for them.
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” (Mark 10:29-31)
